Urban Homesteader: Small-Space Gardening
Nothing beats the taste of fresh food, especially when we’ve grown it ourselves. But, city life tends to shrink our available garden space, and it might seem like producing a harvest of homegrown veggies is impossible when we only have a tiny yard, patio, or balcony to work with. Fortunately, there are ways that we urban-dwellers can conjure big yields from our small spaces too.

The folks at The Big Garden are experts at coaxing impressive yields out of small settings, and in this seminar, Cait Coughey and Stephanie Finklea will introduce you to some interesting and creative ways you can make that happen at your home too. Even if you measure your available space in inches and yards rather than feet and acres, these two gardening experts will explain how techniques like vertical gardening, succession planting, and bio-intensive gardening can help you make the most of your space. They’ll also share some organic gardening basics – such as healthy soil preparation – to help ensure a successful crop.
